Notes: | On the 1876 Ordnance Survey map, Swan Street runs off Gravel Lane just on the north side of this pub (which is named as Swan Court on Horwood's map of 1799, but which no longer exists). There is a "White Swan" mentioned on Gravel Lane, Southwark in some Sun Fire Office insurance records of 1804 and 1810, so this may possibly be an earlier name for this pub (or it may be a separate establishment). |
